Tire service
How much do you know about your tires? For example, do you know...
- How old are your tires?
- Are the sidewalls and treads of the tires intact?
- How much tread depth do the tires have?
- Do your tires have the correct tire pressure?
- Are your wheels optimally balanced?
If your answer to one of these questions is “No”, you need to act on it fast. Because tire service makes sense not only when there are visible damages or loss of pressure. In most cases it is about invisible defects, which can be very dangerous, especially on the motorway.
So a good tire service is essential to ensure driving safety and the usual driving characteristics of your car. Professional advice on the selection of the right tires, an expert opinion on the tire check as well as professional fitting and balancing are decisive here. In addition, the damages should be repaired fast and the tires should be changed according to the season. Therefore, a good tire service directly contributes to longer service life of tires and consequently, of your vehicle.
Why tire service is so important
Apart from tire tread depending on the season and weather conditions, there are still some other things to consider. Undetected damages or tire age could bring serious consequences:
- loss of road grip in low temperatures and wet conditions due to a rubber mixture that has become old and too hard
- increased risk of accident and serious damage due to undetected internal leaks at valves or other defects
- increased safety risk due to inadequate grip and insufficient water displacement on wet roads and due to insufficient tread depth
- uneven wear, increased fuel consumption, hardly visible damages to tire wall and carcass in the case of wrong tire pressure
- unpleasant vibrations, unsteady ride, wearing out the joints of the wheel suspension and the risk of incorrect steering movements at high speeds due to unbalanced tires
- corrosion of and damage to rims as a result of improper cleaning, which leads to permanent embedding of brake dust and dirt

Our tire services
Tire fitting and balancing
When mounting, the tires should be fitted on a clean rim in order to ensure proper driving characteristics. We use various equipment and aids to prevent excessive stress on the rim and tire.
Then, during balancing we test with the corresponding specialist tool whether the weight of the tire is evenly distributed. We correct imbalances with small weights on the rim.
Tire repairs
In many cases, we can perform tire repairs and theyr are often cheaper than buying a new tire. We replace damaged tires mostly in pairs, so that the tire treads on one axle do not differ too much from each other and no problems occur with the driving safety systems such as ABS or ESC.
We can easily repair damages such as small punctures and holes caused by screws or nails. But this is possible, only if no damage to the inside of the tire, on the tire wall or carcass has already occurred due to driving with insufficient air pressure or even a flat tire.
In any case it is necessary to act on it fast to avoid irreparable damages to tires and rims.
Changing of wheels
Depending on the type of vehicle and the type of wheels, this can take different amounts of time and requires a certain level of expertise as well as tools. Professional tire service at a specialist workshop is not only fast and efficient, but can also draw attention to other problems such as damages to the tire or rim, too old rubber mixture or worn down tire tread.
Seasonal changing of wheels
A seasonal changing of wheels is always a sensible move. While you can enjoy efficient driving, optimum grip and better handling on wet and dry roads with summer tires, winter tires are even mandatory on ice and snow and better suited for more safety. Then there are all-weather or all-season tires, which are suitable for regions with mild climates and without extreme weather conditions.
But be careful: Find out whether you are really allowed to drive them in your region. And did you know that depending on the weather, some all-season tires are not adequate for extreme winter conditions?
You need to watch out for this tire symbol in winter
Since January 01, 2018, a legal specification has been in force for new tires. These are only suitable for winter if they bear the “Alpine” symbol that shows a mountain and a snowflake. You will find it on the sidewall of the tire. Be it all-weather tires or winter tires – this marking is mandatory in order to guarantee full insurance coverage in winter.
Get advice and ask your trusted specialist workshop whether you should have your summer or winter tires changed and if all-weather tires make sense for your intended use.
