LIQUI MOLY Team Engstler targets the title in the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR)

Extensive changes to the racing team: Driver pairing, vehicle partner, paintwork – all new

LIQUI MOLY Team Engstler has repositioned itself for the upcoming WTCR season: The two drivers Tiago Monteiro and Attila Tassi are new. They will compete for the title in the Honda Civic Type R TCR. The racing team has changed brand and is now an official Honda customer team. Team boss Franz Engstler wants to fight for the touring car title in this constellation.

Many changes mean that many things have to get settled in first. Starting with the new vehicle partner Honda. Franz Engstler, owner of LIQUI MOLY Team Engstler: “All of us in the team are really proud to have been given the opportunity to work with Honda in the WTCR. I feel that this partnership has a great future. It’s also a fantastic development for me personally.”
With the Honda Civic Type R TCR, technology and appearance are changing. The new racing car has become a real eye-catcher. It is the work of Belgian artist Vanuf, who has already designed a number of official paint finishes for Honda’s touring car ranges. The artist was inspired by the logo of the long-standing partner and name giver for the LIQUI MOLY team for the striking, mirrored design in the colors white, blue and red. Peter Baumann, Marketing Director of the main sponsor, describes the appearance of the vehicle as “an absolute success”. “Visually, we are right at the forefront. And hopefully at the end of the season, also in the rankings for drivers and teams.”
The Portuguese touring car professional Tiago Monteiro and the Hungarian Attila Tassi are responsible for the driving performance. Franz Engstler is sure that this is a strong driver pairing: “Having a driver with Tiago’s experience has obvious advantages. And, wherever we can, we work with young drivers. This is part of our philosophy.” For the team leader, Attila Tassi is a great addition. Franz Engstler has high hopes for both racing drivers and the Honda, which is why he believes his team can compete for the title in the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) in 2022.
LIQUI MOLY Marketing Director Peter Baumann is also confident: “We are very excited to be part of the global Honda motorsports program. And we are confident that we can live our corporate values very well with Honda. Franz Engstler’s team possesses a great deal of motorsport expertise. This will harmonize very well with our passion for racing and the joy of working together. And it lays the foundation for the success we want in the sport and for the Honda and LIQUI MOLY brands.”
